State Ethics Panel Goes After Former Sheriff
Friday, May 19, 2006
More trouble for former Deschutes County Sheriff Greg Brown. Today the Oregon Government Standards and Practices Commission accused Brown of using his elected office for personal gain by selling an assault rifle that belonged to the county. Brown earlier pled guilty to its theft, but now he claims the AR-15 was his to sell. Brown also did time in a federal penitentiary for embezzling money from the sheriff’s office and the Sisters/Camp Sherman Rural Fire District. The county's former top cop can either settle the complaint or ask for a hearing before an administrative law judge.

This was the former Sheriff of Deschutes County?
What did he do prior to this? Was he a rank and file deputy?
If so, is it time to dig further into his backgroud and examine his arrest record while he was on duty? Has this been investigated?
Was he operating within the law when he made arrest of others in his capacity as a law enforcement officer in the past?
Who hired him? Was a complete background investigation conducted?
By whom?
If so, has it been revealed? What was in his background? Does anyone know?
Who were his big supporters and contributers during his election?
Seems as though the questions surrounding this story are endless.
