What's wrong w/Seattle? It started in the off season w/a poor choice not to franchise Hutchinson. Great move - for the Vikings. Then, we sign WR Burrelson from the Vikes. Where's he been? Has he even caught a pass this year? A lot of money for a dud, at least so far.
What's up the defense? It's not just one or two players but the whole D. How many times have other teams converted on third down. I can't count that high. I am surprised by the lack of a rush defense. No pressure on a limp Huard for example. But, this has been going on since the season began. Why didn't Seattle blitz more? Is it because they can't get to the qb no matter how many guys they blitz? It's obvious that their db's and safety's can't cover for very long. And Seattle is missing too many tackles even after contact and their players seem to be out of position to make the play.
Seattle's game planning leaves a whole lot to be desired. It's terrible. Seattle has been out-coached in ALL facets of the game (O, D and ST). Their defensive strategy is too generic. They need to disguise it better obviously.
Special teams has been dissapointing. I mean a lack of long returns.
Another reason for the bad D is that Seattle's poor offense is unable to sustain drives. The O' line is unable to get any push. Morris can't break a tackle. Yes, the D is bad but made worse by an ineffective O that is 3 and out on too many drives. We need to start developing our young o' lineman. When was the last time Womack went a season w/o getting injured?
The o' line fix. Bench Grey and Tobeck and replace them w/Willis and Simms. Willis should play right tackle and put Simms next to Walter Jones. Locklear should move to guard and Spencer should play at center.
However, Seattle has had many injuries but I still believe that losing Hutchinson has had a huge negative impact on the team as a whole, especially the offense. But, if you fix the o' line it can go a long way in fixing many of the other problems.
