This morning I was driving down 3rd street when I was cut off. I honked my horn in response, only to have the other driver slam on his brakes in the middle of traffic.
I don't know about you, but in my book, slamming on your brakes and causing me to almost rear end you earns you a middle finger. I reserve this particularly vulgar hand gesture for only the most serious infractions, such as this morning's event.
To my suprise, this specimen of intelligence and self control exited his truck, pulled a 2x4 from his car, and began advancing toward me. His shouts of broken English turned heads on the sidewalk: "Why you show me the finger? Why you is do this?". Now lets review: You cut me off. I honk. You slam on your brakes. I flip you off. You come at me with A FRIGGIN 2X4???
Did I miss something? Maybe I do not understand the concept of machismo. Maybe it is a cultural difference that led to this situation. Regardless of cultural context, a 2x4 is not an appropriate response to this type of situation. FYI.
You clearly are not an experienced driver. Don't be a honky. It can get you killed. Don't flip others off in traffic. That too can get you killed.
Dummy #1 slammed on his brakes due to the fact he did not like #2 honking at him. You had time to draft his vehicle since you didn't like #1 pulling out in front of you, you had time to honk, as you tailgated and drafted his vehicle. He slams on brakes and you almost rear end him. All of this can get you hurt or dead. If you would have rear ended him, you'd be liable. Be advised, you have no idea whom #1 is. He could have just killed his wife, robbed a bank, had a brain full of crack, or a two time loser looking to put someone in a body bag. Some people are wound real tight. Don't find out how tight.
Stay safe, be wise. Keep your mouth shut and fingers in your car. It's not worth it.
